Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need a natural hormone cream (Prosperine)?

Your age, your history and your well-being are the first 3 indicators. Are you reaching 40? If so, your progesterone levels are decreasing and your estrogen level is on the rise. We call that estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance in your body can be responsible for mood swings, vaginal dryness, irregular bleedings etc. See the list of symptoms given below.

Is there a history of female illnesses in your family and of breast or uterine or lung cancer or osteoporosis, cardio vascular disease? High levels of estrogen are connected with breast cancer, lung cancer, uterine and osteoporoses. For all the above, natural progesterone cream can be very harmonizing and serve as an effective preventative measure.

How are you feeling? Do you overdo your life, work too hard, play too hard, or eat poorly, taking in too much coffee, junk food, red meat, and milk? Do you have symptoms such as mood swings, difficulty focusing, depression, vaginal dryness, tiredness etc.(see the list of symptoms)?

The more of these factors you have the more likely that you will benefit from the natural progesterone cream, Prosperine.

Which creams are reliable?

Creams which state that they contain between 400-450 mg or USP of natural progesterone per ounce are the ones that you want. They should also state where they derive their natural progesterone from. Most will be from soy or from Mexican wild yam. Since some people are sensitive to soy, we only use Mexican Wild Yam and have each batch tested by an independent laboratory.

When do I start noticing results?

Some people start noticing results within 6 weeks, and most people within 2-4 months. Pimpels, breast tendersness all are a result of the use of progesterone cream. Results come best if you use the product consistently.

What are the side effects?

So far no side effects are known. People have been using natural progesterone for over 30 years. One positive "side effect" is that people sleep more, or better. Dr. J. Merculo refers to this as an anesthesthetic effect upon the brain, which many people really enjoy.

More questions:

Will my breast size and libido increase?

Some women have reported an increase in breast size, especially those who rub it on their  breasts every fourth day. It will surely increase your libido if you are not completely exhausted, though for some women it takes longer than for others. Natural progesterone cream also decreases vaginal dryness. Much depends on the balance between your estrogen and progesterone. If you are very low in progesterone it will take longer to build up your level. Age is a factor too.

How do you know if your hormone levels are in balance?

If you have a history of ovarian cysts, irregular menses, mood swings, or decreased libido, you most likely have a high estrogen level and a low progesterone level. The natural progesterone cream will help with these symptoms. You can always buy a test kit for your progesterone (and other hormone) levels from ZRT laboratory in Beaverton OR 97005 (503-466-2445). These kits work with a simple saliva test, and cost around $30.00.  Residents of most states can order a test kit without a physician's prescription. (Californians need a prescription though: too bad!)

How much progesterone cream do I take?

At least 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon a day, preferably twice a day, or 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon once a day. Some of my clients double their dosages for a while, especially if they have stopped taking birth control pills or hormone replacement recently. It sometimes seems to take a long time for high levels of artificial estrogen to leave the body (up to 1- 3 years).

Do I have to use natural progesterone cream for the rest of my life?

That's up to you, though a hormone test might help to make your decision for you. It does so well for most women that I would say just go ahead and give yourself the well-being. This is particularly true if you have a family history of osteoporosis, cancer or cardiovascular disease - as a form of prevention. We all want to live long and well, but if our bodies decline too much it can become much harder to enjoy old age.

Many women who have a low progesterone level have a high estrogen level. Of all of my friends and customers over 35 who have had their hormone levels tested, none turned out to have a low estrogen level. I assume that since milk and beef and pork have such high levels of estrogen we do not seem to have to worry about a low level of estrogen. We need to increase progesterone to counteract the estrogen. Progesterone brings estrogen levels down. Since all hormones balance one another, many women who have high estrogen and low progesterone have a slow working thyroid or adrenal burn out.  Here follow the symptoms for low thyroid level. (ZRT laboratory has excellent tests for this as well.) My booklet of hometests you can order by going to my shoppingcart and add $ 10.00 and write down in the message boxs. Booklet hometests.
